At Identity Mission, we believe children heal and thrive best when they stay with their families. That’s why Family Preservation is at the center of everything we do. Instead of removing children from their homes, we walk alongside mothers, fathers, and caregivers to strengthen the family so separation never becomes necessary.
What is Family Preservation at Identity Mission? Family Preservation is our first and most important response to vulnerable children in Honduras. It is relational, holistic, and deeply rooted in the Gospel.

We don’t just provide temporary aid. We come alongside families in crisis — offering counseling, prayer, practical skills training, emotional support, and concrete help so parents can care for their children with dignity and confidence.
Our goal is simple yet powerful: keep children in their homes, surrounded by the love of their own family and the local Church.
One of the First Steps We Take: Getting Kids Back in School In Honduras, one of the main reasons the government removes children from their families is because they are not attending school. School attendance is mandatory by law. When parents cannot afford uniforms, shoes, backpacks, or basic supplies, children often stop going to school. This puts the entire family at risk of separation by authorities.
That’s why one of our very first steps in Family Preservation is helping children return to school and stay there.

Real Impact Through School Supply Donations Every school year, we see the same beautiful pattern:
- The Beller family traveled from the U.S. and delivered uniforms and shoes to children who had been out of school for months.
- A generous donor from New York quietly covered an entire list of school supplies for multiple families.
- During a visit, Stephanie and Zoe spent time with mothers and children, handing out backpacks and hearing their stories firsthand.

These aren’t just donations — they are the beginning of restoration.
Reyna’s and Marina’s Story Reyna and Marina will never forget the day their daughters were finally able to go back to school.
Both mothers had been struggling. Their girls had been forced to stay home because the family simply could not afford uniforms or supplies. The mothers carried deep shame and worry — wondering if their children would ever catch up or have a real future.
When Identity Mission stepped in with school uniforms, shoes, and supplies, everything changed.
Reyna shared: “Because of Identity Mission, my girls are back in school. I can’t even describe what that means to me as a mother.”
Marina added: “Seeing them in their uniforms, ready to learn again… it gave me hope that we can stay together as a family.”

For both mothers, that simple act of help was the turning point. Their daughters returned to the classroom, the families felt dignity restored, and the risk of separation began to disappear.
The Ripple Effect When a child goes back to school, the entire family begins to heal:
- Mothers regain confidence as providers.
- Children feel valued and hopeful.
- The local Church sees the family as part of their community.
- Generational cycles of poverty start to break.
This is restoration in action — not just for one child, but for the whole family.

The Road for 2026 This year we are doubling down on Family Preservation with clearer communication, deeper relationships, and more strategic support — especially in getting children back into school and keeping them there.
