Looking Ahead to 2026: Walking Forward with Purpose and Hope

Our Mission

February 5, 2026

Jorge Garcia

Because of your generosity and faithful partnership, children are sleeping in safe homes, families are staying together, and churches are stepping more fully into their calling to care for the vulnerable.

As we look ahead to 2026, we do so with deep gratitude — and with a quiet excitement for what lies ahead. This coming year represents a season of clarity and intentional growth for Identity Mission, shaped by the relationships, trust, and shared commitment that make this work possible. We invite you to take a moment to look ahead with us and see what we are prayerfully planning for the year to come.

Below is an overview of our focus for 2026 across our three core programs.

What is Identity Mission, and How Are We Making a Difference in Honduras?

At Identity Mission, we believe that children belong in families, and we are dedicated to making this a reality for vulnerable children in Honduras. We focus on providing a loving, family-based care model, a solution that ensures children are not left behind in orphanages but instead are placed in nurturing homes that allow them to thrive. This approach is rooted in our belief in the power of local communities, the Church, and God’s command to care for orphans and widows (James 1:27).

Our Mission in Honduras

Identity Mission’s work in Honduras is deeply connected to the local culture, local churches, and government organizations. Our mission is clear: to transform the lives of children and families through family-based care and family preservation programs. By partnering with churches and local authorities, we help families stay together, prevent child abandonment, and work to ensure that every child has the opportunity to grow up in a safe and supportive family environment.

In Honduras, many children are placed in orphanages due to poverty, neglect, or a lack of resources. The system often leads to isolation from their communities, making it difficult for these children to thrive. Through collaborating with these key stakeholders, we are working to change this narrative.

Family Preservation Program

In 2026, we will continue investing in families who are at risk of separation, walking alongside parents as they grow in stability, connection, and caregiving capacity. Building on current partnerships with our local mayor’s office, we plan to expand services to 14 new families who have been identified by authorities as being truly on the brink of separation.

As cases increase, we will also be hiring a new psychologist to assist our current social worker, Keyrin. This growth will allow us to respond more effectively to the needs of families while expanding referrals through church partnerships. As we strengthen collaboration with church orphan care ministry teams, our goal remains clear: to prevent unnecessary family separation and help children thrive safely within their families.

Foster Care Program

In 2026, we plan to recruit and support 3–5 new foster families, while continuing to walk closely with current caregivers and respond to new placements as opportunities arise.

With the transition to new government child welfare authorities this year, Identity Mission plans to present a formal collaboration agreement early in 2026. This agreement will support the certification of new foster families, allow us to continue providing legal support toward permanency for children who have been in our program for many years, and expand specialized support for children and families with higher needs.

Each foster family represents a safe and loving home for a child in need, and we are deeply grateful for the families who are willing to say yes.

Church Development Program (Solución 1:27 Network)

Our Church Development Program remains central to Identity Mission’s long-term vision. The training and collaborative network within this program — known as Solución 1:27 — is a church-led initiative designed to equip pastors and congregations to launch orphan care ministries within their own communities.

In 2026, we plan to train 10 additional churches, equipping them to support both family preservation and foster care locally. To support this growth, Identity Mission will provide an administrative coordination role for the Solución 1:27 network, allowing it to expand while remaining owned and led by the churches themselves.

As initiators of the network, our role is to serve and strengthen what belongs to the local Church — the calling to be at the center of orphan care. We also plan to train 2 new trainers in 2026, who will be equipped to launch additional trainings among pastors within their own relational networks, multiplying impact and ensuring sustainable, church-driven growth.

As we enter 2026, we do so with humility, hope, and deep gratitude. Thank you for believing in family-based care, for investing in local solutions, and for walking with us as partners in this work.

We are honored to continue moving forward together.
