Delmi lost her husband and her ability to work but refused to give up. With courage, she built a future for her autistic daughter by opening a store in their mountain village. Through a partnership with Identity Mission, she found the strength to overcome and thrive.
After Delmi became the sole provider for her family, things took a turn when she developed scoliosis and could no longer pick coffee, her main source of income. Undeterred, she reached out to her community and found Identity Mission. Through our family preservation program, she worked with our social worker, Keyrin, to create a life plan that would allow her to support her daughter and keep their home. The solution was to run a small store from her home in their remote mountain village. Over the year, Keyrin
helped her learn essential business skills and management, and thanks to Identity Mission donors, we covered her startup costs. Today, Delmi’s business is thriving, already she needs to close in her porch to expand her store! Delmi's journey is a powerful example of the resilience of a loving mother and the difference we can make when we partner with her!
Since 2015, Identity Mission has made significant strides in transforming the lives of vulnerable children and families in Honduras. Through God’s grace and the unwavering support of our partners, we’ve kept children in family-based care, sparing them from institutionalization and giving them the chance to grow in loving, secure environments.

Pastor Peter’s own journey as an adoptee sparked a deep desire to care for vulnerable children, but he saw little happening in the Honduran church to address this need.
That changed when he and his wife, Kathy, met Identity Mission leading them to embrace orphan care as a core ministry of Linaje Escogido.
Together, they were trained to develop a church training program that empowers congregations to launch orphan care initiatives, transforming how the Church supports vulnerable children and families.
Linaje Escogido reaches out to impoverished communities, partnering with struggling parents to prevent children from being removed due to poverty. They also recruit and care for foster and adoptive families within their congregation, equipping them to provide loving homes. Additionally, they train other churches to launch orphan care programs, empowering them to step into a role that prevents children from entering orphanages and keeps them connected to their communities.

With the help of Identity Mission’s caseworker, Carmen underwent multiple medical exams. The root issue was simple—she had reflux. In the understaffed orphanage, no one had been able to hold her
during feedings, so they would prop up her bottle on a pillow, causing milk to enter her lungs and triggering pneumonia. In her foster mom’s care, Carmen was held upright during every feeding, and within four months, she became a much healthier baby. A mother’s arms saved Carmen’s life. After a year in foster care, a loving Honduran Christian family adopted her. Today, she is thriving in the warmth and love of her forever family.
